WAMEGO, Kan. (WIBW) – A ribbon cutting was held at a new affordable housing complex in Wamego on Wednesday.
The Kansas Housing Corporation (KHRC) envisioned the new complex, built in conjunction with the City of Wamego, Frontier Development Group, and the State of Kansas’ ‘Love, Kansas’ initiative.
The new complex features ten units for families to live in at an affordable price.
Ryan Vincent, executive director of the Kansas Housing Corporation, says he hopes projects like these will continue to attract people to move to Kansas.
“Housing is key, we keep hearing that in urban and rural areas alike,” Vincent said.
“Through these types of investments that the Kelly Administration and the legislature are making, we’re able to give back to our rural communities, we’re able to revitalize the downtown areas, we’re able to save historic structures,” Vincent said. “We hear about employers that are expanding, so these types of homes allow for jobs to be expanded into these communities.”
