EL DORADO, Kan. (KSNW) – City commissioners are looking to turn the historic Masonic Hall in downtown El Dorado into housing.
On Monday night, the commission approved a resolution to schedule a public hearing on creating a redevelopment project plan and establishing a Reinvestment Housing Incentive District (RHID).
The city manager said this would operate like a TIF District, where the appraised value of a property is locked in. Then, as improvements are made, additional taxes that come from the improvements are used to reimburse some of the expenses.
The hearing is set for Sept. 15.
